See You at Snowshoe Vermont 2020!
It’s a privilege to work on producing the 2020 Komen New England Snowshoe Vermont event to be held on Sunday, January 26 at Grafton Trails & Outdoor Center! I love welcoming snowshoers who return year after year, coming from all over New England and beyond. I always look forward to seeing one particular survivor and friend, who makes it an annual winter trip from Maryland to participate. And then, some who dress-up for the occasion in the spirit of Snowshoe Vermont!
Snowshoe Vermont 2020 will welcome families, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to its new venue, the Grafton Trails & Outdoor Center. The perfect time to enjoy a fun snowshoe walk while helping to further Susan G. Komen®’s Bold Goal of reducing the current number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50 percent by 2026.
Additionally, the event raises funds that support the Komen New England mission to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
Komen New England contributes at least 75 percent of local funds raised at such an event as Snowshoe Vermont to help provide vital education and real-time support to people facing breast cancer today in its communities. Komen New England has invested over $13 million in Connecticut organizations, over $3 million in Maine organizations, over $9 million in Massachusetts organizations, and over $6.5 million in Vermont and New Hampshire organizations providing breast health services to uninsured and underinsured residents. In FY 2020-21, Community Grants will be awarded to qualifying service organizations that focus on patient navigation, reducing barriers to care, and education that leads to action.
The remaining 25 percent of net proceeds from Snowshoe Vermont, and similarly from other Komen New England fundraising events, are dedicated to Susan G. Komen’s national research program. Since 1993, Komen New England has contributed more than $10 million to Komen’s national research program, which currently focuses on metastatic breast cancer, developing new, more effective treatments, and addressing disparities in breast cancer outcomes.
See you at Snowshoe Vermont!
