Research Project in Need of Proposal Advocates

Research Project in Need of Proposal Advocates
Are you a breast cancer survivor over the age of 65 interested in advocating a proposal to the 2018 Department of Defense’s breast cancer research program?

One of the proposals aims to test the efficacy of a decision aid on breast cancer treatment for women aged 70 and older with stage I, estrogen receptor positive, HER2- breast cancer. The second is a proposal that aims to develop a web-based tool that will estimate the benefits and risks of mammography screening for women aged 75 and older.

As a breast cancer consumer advocate, you would be integral throughout the planning and implementation of the research project. Consumer advocates are involved in the development of the research question, project design, oversight, recruitment, and evaluation, as well as other significant aspects of the proposed project.

If you’re interested in advocating for these proposals, please contact Mara Schonberg, MD, MPH for more information at mschonbe@bidmc.harvard.edu.
