The findings from the 2015 Community Profile of Breast Cancer revealed that approximately 10,500 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in our region each year. Collective data highlights strategies to reduce breast cancer burden in these areas.
Susan G. Komen® New England has identified the following funding priority areas:
Priority 1. Reduce rates of late-stage diagnoses of breast cancer by increasing consumer awareness of early detection programs and facilitating access to treatment centers across the Komen New England service areas.
Priority 2. Reduce rates of late-stage diagnoses and mortality rates of breast cancer among ethnically diverse low-income and medically underserved communities by increasing the number of community-based patient navigation programs across all communities of interest.
